Crenshaw’s finest, Nipsey Hussle released his star-studded debut album Victory Lap, through his All Money In imprint with Atlantic. The album, which serves as a continuation of his heralded “Marathon” series of tapes, features west coast staples YG, Kendrick Lamar and Buddy as well as Puff Daddy (formerly Diddy etc.), Marsha Ambrosius and others.
Victory Lap continues with the framework that provided albums like The Game’s Documentary II and ScHoolboy Q’s Blank Face LP: an unabashed preference for G-Funk bounce’s and the artificial bass of trap music. Hussle’s raspy vocals ring out against the thunderous instrumentals while contrasting with singing from CeeLo Green and Stacy Barthe. Though it’s his debut album, Victory Lap is well within the style Hussle has crafted over 13 years of mixtapes, singles and features.
Victory Lap is available to stream and purchase everywhere.
