What could overshadow the Toronto Raptors’ potentially win-streak ending victory over the Houston Rockets?

A Drake album announcement.

Midway through the first half, Drake took the floor to hype the crowd during Toronto’s scheduled “Drake Night”. Showing no love for his second/third/fourth/nth home Houston, Drake assured Toronto would come out on top.

But more importantly, he nonchalantly slipped in an album announcement too.

“I’m working on this new album for the City,” Drake shared, leaving the crowd a few seconds for digesting and cheering the announcement.

The as-of-yet titled album would be Drake’s first since 2016, excluding 2018’s two-track Scary Hours EP and 2017’s More Life playlist.

Keeping mum about the projects intricacies, 2016s Views served as an ode to Drake’s hometown, with cuts like “Weston Road Flows” taking listeners through “secret handshakes” and doing mixtapes out of basements.

With any luck, his next project could serve as  a continuation, expanding on his deep connection with the city of Toronto.
